Cherry Blossom in Portland, Oregon

If you haven't known this already, you can see cherry blossom every Spring at the Japanese American Historical Plaza / Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon. The blossom happens during March every year and depending on how the weather is like that year, the exact blooming time will vary. And if you live in Portland, you know how much rain we get in March. Hence these blossoms do not stay for very long before the rain takes them away. I would say a few weeks at most. So ... go see them as soon as you can! :)

This Plaza is right by the Willamette River so you get a view of these cherry blossom trees along the river. During a rare sunny day as it was this one Saturday (Mar 25th, 2017), the Plaza can get pretty crowded.

If you get a chance, walk onto the Steel Bridge and the Burnside Bridge to get a different view of the blossoms. My friends and I crossed the Steel Bridge and took some pictures from the other side of the river. You will also be able see the iconic Portland, Oregon sign from this side.

This is my second time here for 2 consecutive years and I'm pretty sure there will be a next time! Other nearby locations that I would recommend visiting for cherry blossom viewing are at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, Oregon and at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. I have not been to those places yet but have seen great photos and hope I would get to see it with my own eyes next year. :)
